Beni Ourain Rugs
Beni Ourain rugs come from the Middle Atlas mountains of Morocco. They are hand-knotted in thick, undyed sheep wool, usually ivory or cream, with simple dark lines and diamond lattices. The deep pile makes them soft underfoot and warm in winter, and their quiet graphic patterns sit easily in minimalist, Scandinavian, modern and boho rooms.
How to recognize a real Beni Ourain rug
Turn it over. A hand-knotted rug shows every knot on the back, slightly irregular, and the pattern is visible from behind. The wool feels natural and slightly lanolin-rich, the lines are never perfectly straight, and the fringe is the end of the warp threads, not sewn on. Shedding and care
A new wool rug sheds a little in its first weeks; this is normal and slows down quickly. Vacuum without the beater bar and use a rug pad on hard floors.
