Modern art you can walk on. Two bold panels of cobalt blue and terracotta step down the top of a soft ivory field, answered by a single black form at the base – each edge cut in a hand-knotted zigzag. Clean and contemporary, yet unmistakably made by hand in the Atlas Mountains.
Why you'll love it
- Design-led – a confident, gallery-style composition that works like a large painting for your floor.
- Plush and warm – thick pile of 100% natural sheep wool, hand-knotted by Berber weavers.
- Made to measure – woven to order in your size; each rug has its own subtle variations.
Style it
Echo the blue and terracotta in cushions or ceramics, and keep the rest of the room calm: white walls, light oak and a single sculptural lamp.

The heritage of Beni Ourain rugs
Beni Ourain is the name of a confederation of Amazigh (Berber) tribes living in the cold, high valleys of the Middle Atlas. For generations, the women of these communities wove thick, deep-pile rugs from the wool of their own sheep, rugs used as bedding and blankets during snowy winters as much as floor coverings.
The classic palette is the natural ivory of undyed wool, drawn with dark brown or black lines. Diamonds, lozenges and zigzags are the most common motifs; weavers worked them from memory, so no two rugs are identical and small asymmetries are a mark of the hand, not a flaw.
In the twentieth century, modernist architects and designers brought Beni Ourain rugs into European and American interiors, where their soft texture and graphic lines became a signature of mid-century and minimalist design.
