The icon of Moroccan design. A soft, open black trellis drifts across a cloud-like ivory pile – the timeless lattice that has graced the homes of designers from Le Corbusier to today. Hand-knotted in the Middle Atlas, it is simple, sculptural and endlessly versatile.
Why you'll love it
- The forever rug – the classic Beni Ourain trellis never goes out of style and moves with you from home to home.
- Thick, cloud-soft pile – 100% natural, undyed sheep wool, naturally insulating and wonderfully quiet underfoot.
- Hand-drawn lines – each lattice line wanders slightly, the signature of a rug knotted by hand, not by machine. Woven to order in your size.
Style it
Perfect for Scandinavian, Japandi and modern-organic rooms: pair it with oak, bouclé, linen and black accents.

The heritage of Beni Ourain rugs
Beni Ourain is the name of a confederation of Amazigh (Berber) tribes living in the cold, high valleys of the Middle Atlas. For generations, the women of these communities wove thick, deep-pile rugs from the wool of their own sheep, rugs used as bedding and blankets during snowy winters as much as floor coverings.
The classic palette is the natural ivory of undyed wool, drawn with dark brown or black lines. Diamonds, lozenges and zigzags are the most common motifs; weavers worked them from memory, so no two rugs are identical and small asymmetries are a mark of the hand, not a flaw.
In the twentieth century, modernist architects and designers brought Beni Ourain rugs into European and American interiors, where their soft texture and graphic lines became a signature of mid-century and minimalist design.
