Pure Moroccan sunshine. A deep saffron-mustard pile carries a constellation of hand-drawn Berber symbols – crosses, arrows, diamonds and little figures in pink, blue, red, black and white – all held inside a dancing blue zigzag border. It is the kind of rug that becomes the personality of a room.
Why you'll love it
- Statement color – rich, warm and optimistic, it glows next to white walls, terracotta and green plants.
- Storytelling motifs – Azilal weavers use symbols for protection, fertility and nature, so each rug carries its own quiet story.
- Thick, soft pile – hand-knotted in the High Atlas from 100% natural sheep wool, woven to order in your size.
Style it
Ground a white or cream sofa with it, or pair it with rattan, ceramics and olive tones for a sunny Mediterranean feel.

The heritage of Azilal rugs
Azilal rugs come from the province of Azilal in the central High Atlas, home to Amazigh villages around the Ait Bougmez valley and the Ouzoud area. Traditionally woven by women for their own homes, they combine a pale wool ground with bursts of saturated colour.
Where Beni Ourain rugs are quiet, Azilal rugs are expressive: free-hand symbols, crosses, zigzags and diamonds in red, orange, blue and pink, often mixed with cotton or recycled threads. Many motifs are read as personal stories: protection, fertility, the passage of seasons.
Because each weaver composes as she goes, Azilal rugs are among the most individual of all Moroccan textiles: a modern abstract painting with centuries of craft behind it.
