Boujad rugs are woven on the Tadla plain around the small town of Boujad, in central Morocco. The region is known for warm, saturated colour (madder reds, pinks, oranges and violets) and loose, painterly diamonds drawn with real freedom. Long overshadowed by Beni Ourain, they are now prized by designers for the warmth they bring to a room.

The heritage of Boujad rugs
Boujad is a small town on the Tadla plain, between the Middle Atlas foothills and the Atlantic plains. The Haouz and Amazigh-Arab tribes of the area weave rugs known for their warm palette: madder reds, pinks, oranges and violets.
Boujad rugs typically show loose, irregular diamonds and lattices, shapes drawn with a freedom that gives every piece a painterly, almost spontaneous feel. The pile is usually medium, soft enough for living rooms and bedrooms.
Long overshadowed by Beni Ourain, Boujad rugs are now loved by interior designers for bringing colour and warmth to neutral rooms.
